Dr. Ashok Vaidya met Vaidya D. S. Antarkarji at Diabetes Clinic, Podar Hospital, Mumbai, after returning from Yale Medical School, on hearing about Antarkarji’s work in clinical screening of hypoglycaemic effects of Tinospora cordifolia, Berberis aristata, Momordia charantia and Shilajeet.
Dr. Vaidya seized this opportunity for Ayurveda research with an astute clinician and acclaimed academician. Dr. Vaidya’s suggestion to do placebo-control trial with blood sugar estimations at 1, 2 and 3 hours was readily accepted by Antarkarji.
